Allium B was founded in March 2012 by frock fans and sisters Clare and Mary Burgess. It has quietly established itself as a British independent label for a grown up woman, who is confident with her own style and knows what suits her but above all loves wearing a dress. When they got in touch asking me to take a look at their latest Spring Summer 2015 range and choose a dress to review, I have to say that I was completely spoilt for choice.
They specialise in a tightly edited collection of beautifully detailed dresses, this is slow(er) fashion not fast fashion. The dresses are designed to be worn and loved for more than one season. If you are looking for fast catwalk copies, sharp tailoring or tight body-con then Allium B is probably not the label for you but if you want something a little softer with a slightly vintage feel in a beautiful fabric then you must take a look. Basically I feel like this collection was made for me!
After much swooning, I finally chose the Eliza Liberty print sundress. It is a simple, slightly 70’s style sundress that comes in a range of fine cotton prints from Liberty and I chose it in the blue. It arrived beautifully packaged and I have to say that I was blown away by just how beautiful the Pereira print was in the flesh. The dress is a really flattering cut and sits just on the knee. It has a sheered back panel that helps to give it a perfect fit (and gives me a waist that I didn’t realise I had!) The pretty thick straps have a button fastening to the back and are also wide enough to hide unsightly bra straps. I love that the contrast piping gives it a really retro feel and best of all… Yep you guessed it… It has pockets! Oh how I love a dress with pockets!
There was absolutely no way that I could wait for the sunshine to come out to play before getting to wear this beautiful dress and our plans for Easter don’t include anything more exotic than the Lake District (so no chance of any sun there!) But actually this is such a versatile little dress and layered up, I think it works really well on these chillier spring days. I wore it with navy opaques and tan brogues then added a distressed denim jacket and a light blue scarf and I think it works perfectly. It would even be great with a roll neck underneath and worn as a pinafore. That said, I can’t wait to show it off to its full glory once that sunshine does make an appearance of course and I’m sure you will be seeing the Eliza time and again in my summer outfit posts as I plan to never take it off!
Now I have a little treat for my blog readers! How would you like a 20% discount off Allium B? I thought so! Just simply add YUMMY at the checkout and this special discount is all yours. You’re welcome!
